Through the Camera's Lens: Oneonta, Alabama

For as long as I could remember, I've always been on the move. I moved apartments every year and typically cities too.  As stated in previous posts, I currently reside in North Carolina and have been here for 3 years. Recently, I went back home for a few days. Oneonta, AL is a small rural city I lived in once upon a time ago.

Oneonta is the type of city where people move to raise a family or retire to. There wasn't and still isn't a lot of things to do there, but it was quiet and peaceful. I moved back to Birmingham because I had an older car and my commute was 2 hours round trip.

Fun fact about Oneonta, AL: the area is known for its Covered Bridges. There are still three in remarkable condition. When I lived in Oneonta, I visited all three bridges. Swann Covered Bridge is the most famous one; it's also the longest one.

Another fun fact: there are some Covered Bridges up here in N.C. I photographed two (check previous posts).

The road leading down to Swann Bridge.

The entrance into Swann Bridge. When I lived in Oneonta, you could actually drive through the bridge, but now there are barriers up to keep cars out. I'm assuming the amount of cars driving through the bridge began to take its toll.

A view of the bridge from a different angle. I took this photo about 4 in the evening. I also had to adjust the brightness since the sun was right in front of me. I wish I had taken the photo earlier in the day.

A photo taken through one of the windows.

The area on the other side of Swann Bridge. Water flows under the bridge but as you can see, the levels have dropped.

This next collage of photos were shot at Palisades Park. It's a couple miles out from Swann Bridge but still within city limits. The area that comprises this park used to be a homestead.

Pioneer Cabin. There's a smaller cabin behind this big one.

I took this photo at an angle because I had a specific idea in mind. Unfortunately, it was too late in the evening. The lightning wasn't good enough for my camera.

Inside Meditation Point (I should have used the flash. Unfortunately, I ran out of film).

I had some film that needed to be used before expiration (Polaroid film is  extremely  expensive for the amount of exposures you get). I too...
